There are some tunes you come across in life that are truly a thing of beauty. In this edition of FOLDEDSPACE we are positively brimming with them.
Can't tell you how excited I am to be showcasing the new single from Omar - it really is a mighty tune and is sure to put him on the worldwide musical map. We've two great new LP's on the UK jazz tip courtesy of ever present Roger Beaujolais and North of England based 6 piece, The Weave.
On the Brazilian tip the amazing Guida de Palma and her band Jazzinho give us some brilliant new material from their new LP Veludo. There's also great music from Arthur Verocai, Alex Malhieros and lady of the moment, the huge phenomenal talent that is Heidi Vogel.
Soulful vibes come courtesy of the wondrous Nicci Canada who delivers her version of a song originally by Chaka Khan (and I prefer Nicci's version), which is featured on the soundtrack to 'Interracial Dating In America'.
On the leftfield tip there are two tracks from the groundbreaking new lLP from Bonobo which is currently causing a stir. Throw in Herbie Hancock, Christine Tobin, Jean Carne, Michael Wycoff, Cleveland Watkiss, Bluey, the genuine talent of Emily Saunders and you'll know that the next two hours cannot, and must not, be missed.
