Here we are again, blowing in a breeze of new tunage for the enrichment of your musical soul. Where to start? Being a huge fan of all things quality and an avid collector of music from this imprint in my formative years, I've put together a three-track tribute to a label founded by legendary producer Creed Taylor in the late sixties: CTI. He was aided in that endeavour by Blue Note's Rudy Van Gelder. Who knew?
There's a profile and interview with one of my favourite female vocalists - Swedish born Cecilia Stalin, best known as a member of Koop ('Waltz For Koop'). I was lucky enough to have sat down for a chat to talk about her origins, career and the release of a new EP 'The Story Of Love' which was recorded in my spiritual second home of Atlanta, in collaboration with Khari Simmons and Darren Benjamin aka Daz-I-Kue.
New music comes courtesy of Janette Mason, The British Collective, Estonian pianist Joel Remmel, Resolution 88, Tropica, Kenya, Otis Brown III, the talented Somi, and much, much, more. Vintage tracks are served c/o the timeless Jon Lucien, and The Friends Of Distinction.
