In the meantime, here’s some more details about the show:
Welcome to Continuum - A Journey Through Jazz wherein I am featuring the second portion of an epic George Duke tribute in an attempt to represent his entire 48 year career. The first part covered his formative years from 1965 to 1975 - and this episode covers his burgeoning fame as a Jazz Funk Master and protector of the Dukey Stick from 1976 to 1981.
Bits and pieces of 33 songs are nestled in this over sized two and a half hour show - accompanied by history, information and anecdotes about his life and times, including tracks from 8 solo albums, as well as recordings George either wrote, produced and/or played on with Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham, Raul de Souza, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Airto Moreira, Frank Zappa, The Brecker Brothers, Freddie Hubbard, Al Jarreau and Carl Carlton.
It's quite a journey - so sit back and let me do the driving as we travel through the music of jazz & funk master George Duke.
Agape y'all,
J. Scott Fugate, The Jazz Evangelist
