Welcome back to another episode of Continuum - A Journey Through Jazz, the first episode of 2014. Following up on my previous episode due to popular demand, I'm calling this one "Groove Thing 2" - and within you will find a funky mix of old & new jams which may quite possibly cause involuntary movement in your feet, neck, and other regions in your body that tend to twirk when you hear a good groove.
Jazz was originally developed as dance music, and this episode follows this 118 year tradition with syncopation from the Continuum heard 'round the world - featuring some classic 1990's Acid Jazz from Akimbo, AKA Project, Alliance Ethnik, George Duke, Paolo Achenza Trio, W T Funk, and Marc Antoine . . . moving on to grooves from the previous decade (you know, the 00's) featuring Afro Elements, As One, Adani & Wolf, Action Figure Party, Down To The Bone, Bria Skonberg, Nils Landgren Funk Unit, and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue . . . and, of course, some of the latest & hippest grooves from the likes of Grant Geissman, Indigo Jam Unit, Quasimode, Fox Capture Plan, Resolution 88, The Boom Yeh, Carl Hudson, Alessandro Scala Quartet, Brand New Heavies, Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band, BB Allstars, Funkshone and Gaetano Partipilo.
A little over two hours of solid grooves ranging from acid to funky to nu jazz to . . . whatever the heck the kids are calling it these days.
